Sequins: Your Must Have New Years Sparkle

It’s almost time to ring in the New Year. From what I’ve gathered from most, it’s “good riddance 2016…bring on 2017”. I can’t say I necessarily share the same sentiment, after all, 2016 has been pretty good to us and I can’t wait to see what we can make of 2017. Nonetheless, whether you’re fighting to keep your eyelids open long enough to watch the ball drop at midnight (no shame I’ve been there), champagne toasting with friends, or headed to dinner with your love, make sure to sparkle in sequin attire. New Years is the one time that it’s virtually impossible to overdo it.

As I was picking out what to wear with my Cleo style pencil skirt for the upcoming New Year festivities, it struck me…I, yes me, didn’t know where sequins originated. So I did what anyone would do and Googled it! Fun fact about the story of sequins…did you know that according to Smithsonian Magazine, sequins date all the way back to the days of King Tut? They were even used as a form of currency in some cultures.

Well I don’t plan on trading in my sequins anytime soon so instead I put together the top 3 reasons why sparkling in sequins this New Years will create a look that’s priceless.

That’s ok! While sequins are typically donned in dressier settings, we’ve seen them worn as everyday wear for many seasons now. You don’t have to sacrifice comfort any longer. Throw on your best sneakers and a cool leather jacket and still own the night.
