It’s a known fact, sheer is in, has been, and will continue to be…at least until it’s not, but anyways…for now, it is. Red carpet events are clad with celebrities wearing sheer dresses that would make even the brash blush at times and yet they make it look so effortless. As a clothing designer I take note of the strategic placement of sequins, beads, lace, and appliqué but to the untrained eye, it may appear as though one slight breeze might cause a paparazzi paradise of wardrobe malfunction.
I myself had often wondered “How do they do it?” “What does one wear under something like that?” Then, I designed WRITTEN’s first collection and it came time for me to find the answer. Two of the very first pencil skirts I designed, Astrid and Cleo, were created using sheer fabrics and peek-a-boo detailing. Now of course, for the celebrity with a team of stylists, wearing these looks wouldn’t seem like any task out of the ordinary. However, we had real live customers saying, “I love the skirt, it fits perfect, but what do I wear under it?” Well, I’ve compiled a list of the best underpinnings you can count on to pull off the sheer trend showcasing your class…and not your…@$$. This one is for you Judy!
